  • 2 1/16 cups wheat flour
  • 9/16 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 5/8 cups ground almonds
  • 1 1/16 cups sliced almonds
  • 6 eggs
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 lemon juice and zest

Directions

    Knead flour and butter until soft dough forms.

    Add remaining ingredients.

    Knead well.

    Dust with flour so that dough doesn't stick to hands.

    Line removable bottom plate of a springform pan with dough.

    Preheat oven to 180°C (approximately 350°F).

    Refrigerate for about 10 minutes.

    Melt butter and mix with sugar, eggs, ground almonds, lemon zest and juice.

    Pour mixture into pan. Bake in preheated oven for about 10 minutes.

    Remove and sprinkle with slivered almonds.

    Return to oven and bake until golden for about 10 additional minutes.
