Ingredients

  • 1 Tbsp. oil
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 2 whole cloves
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped white onions
  • 1/8 tsp. salt
  • 2 cups water
  • 1-1/2 cups basmati rice, uncooked, rinsed and drained
  • 3/4 cup frozen mixed vegetables (carrots, corn, green beans, peas)
  • 1/3 cup PLANTERS Slivered Almonds, toasted

Directions

    Cook and stir oil, cinnamon stick and cloves in medium saucepan on medium heat 1 min.

    Add onions and salt; cook 5 min.

    or until onions are crisp-tender, stirring occasionally.

    Stir in water, rice and vegetables.

    Bring to boil; cover.

    Simmer on low heat 12 min.

    or until most the water is absorbed.

    Remove from heat; let stand 5 min.

    Discard cloves and cinnamon stick.

    Add nuts to rice mixture; mix lightly.
