Ingredients

  • 3/4 lb. butter
  • 2 c. granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 c. split almonds (unblanched)
  • 1 c. walnuts
  • 2 (6 or 7 oz.) milk chocolate bars or 2 pkg. chocolate chips

Directions

    Use wooden spoon for stirring and cooking in heavy iron or aluminum skillet.

    Cut butter in small pieces and melt in skillet. Add sugar; when well blended and bubbly, add almonds.

    Stir constantly and cook until mixture forms very hard crack in water (almonds will be golden brown and mixture will darken considerably).

    Pour quickly and spread evenly on cookie sheet. (Slides all around - I use my broiler pan.)

    Cool slightly and loosen sheet of candy with spatula, then flip candy over.

    When partially cooled, spread chocolate over top.

    Sprinkle with nuts; flip over and repeat.
