- 1 pkg. yeast
- 2 Tbsp. warm water
- 1 tsp. sugar
- 5 c. flour
- 4 Tbsp. sugar
- 1 Tbsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 c. butter or margarine
- 2 c. buttermilk
Directions

1Dissolve yeast in water with 1 teaspoon sugar in cup.

2Combine flour, 4 tablespoons sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Cut in butter; add buttermilk, then yeast mixture.

3Mix well. Knead a few minutes on floured board.

4Put in covered buttered bowl.

5Let stand 1 hour or doubled in bulk.

6Roll out; cut into biscuits.

7Place on ungreased cookie sheet; let rise and bake at 400° for 10 to 12 minutes until light brown.
