  • 3 lb. ground beef
  • 1 1/2 c. fine bread crumbs
  • 4 eggs
  • 4 tsp. salt or seasoning salt
  • 1 c. ketchup

    Thoroughly mix together all ingredients.

    Form into balls about 1 1/2-inch in diameter.

    Makes 24 to 28 balls.

    Divide into 2 parts.

    Slowly brown half the balls on all sides in 3 tablespoons fat.

    Remove balls to hot platter.

    Make gravy in same skillet.

    At the same time, bake rest of beef balls in large casserole in moderate oven at about 350°.

    Bake about 20 minutes; cool.

    Cover and freeze or refrigerate until needed for other dishes.
