- 5 c. flour
- 3 tsp. brown sugar
- 3 Tbsp. sugar
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. salt
- 2 c. buttermilk
- 3/4 c. vegetable shortening
Directions

1Sift together ingredients several times.

2Dissolve one cake or package of yeast into 1/2 cup of lukewarm water.

3Cut into dry ingredients the vegetable shortening.

4Add buttermilk, water and yeast mixture. Work together until all flour is moistened.

5Cover and refrigerate.

6Use as needed.

7Will keep for one week or longer.

8To use, roll out on floured board 1/2-inch thick.

9Cut for biscuits.

10Bake at 400° for 12 minutes or until brown.
