- 1 pkg. yeast
- 3 c. all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp. soda
- 2 Tbsp. sugar
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 1 c. plus 2 Tbsp. buttermilk
Directions

1Dissolve yeast in 2 tablespoons warm water.

2Sift dry ingredients and cut shortening into dry mixture.

3Add buttermilk and yeast mixture.

4Knead on floured board. Roll out and cut with biscuit cutter.

5Place in greased pans and bake at 400° for 20 minutes.

6(Batter can be stored in refrigerator for several days until ready to use, if desired.)
