- 5 c. unsifted flour
- 2 c. buttermilk
- 3 tsp. baking powder
- 1 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 pkg. yeast
- 1/4 c. sugar
- 1 tsp. soda
- 3/4 c. shortening
- 2 Tbsp. lukewarm water
Directions

1Dissolve yeast in the 2 tablespoons warm water.

2Let stand 5 minutes.

3Combine flour and other dry ingredients.

4Cut shortening in this flour mixture and add 1 cup of the buttermilk; add yeast and the other cup of buttermilk.

5Mix well.

6Blend on floured board.

7Store in covered container in the refrigerator.

8Will keep 1 week.

9Take out amount needed, roll 1/2 inch thick and cut out biscuits.

10Dip in melted butter and bake 15 minutes at 400°. Dough does not need to rise.
