Ingredients

  • 5 c. flour
  • 1/4 c. sugar
  • 3 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1 c. Crisco
  • 1 pkg. dry yeast
  • 2 Tbsp. warm water
  • 2 c. buttermilk
  • 3/4 c. oleo, melted

Directions

    Sift flour, sugar, baking powder, soda and salt together.

    Cut in Crisco.

    Dissolve yeast in warm water and add with the buttermilk to flour mixture.

    Mix well.

    Place on floured surface and roll 1/4-inch thick.

    Cut with biscuit cutter.

    Dip each biscuit in melted oleo and fold in half.

    Bake on cookie sheet at 400° for 15 minutes.

    Uncooked biscuits may be frozen and used as needed.
