- 1 pkg. dry yeast
- 2 Tbsp. warm water
- 5 c. flour
- 1 Tbsp. baking powder
- 1 Tbsp. baking soda
- 1 Tbsp. salt
- 1/4 c. sugar
- 1 c. shortening or unsalted butter
- 2 c. buttermilk
Directions

1Dissolve yeast in warm water and set aside. Combine dry ingredients; mix well. Cut in shortening with the yeast and dry ingredients until mixture resembles coarse mix. Add buttermilk to mixture. Mix well. Turn out on floured surface; knead about 2 minutes. Roll or pat out and cut into biscuits. Bake in 400° oven for about 15 minutes.
