- 5 c. flour
- 3 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/3 c. sugar
- 1 c. shortening
- 1 pkg. dry yeast (5 tsp.)
- 1/4 c. warm water
- 2 c. buttermilk
- melted butter
Directions

1Dissolve yeast in warm water.

2Mix with buttermilk. Sift dry ingredients together. Cut in shortening and add yeast mixture and buttermilk. Knead enough to hold together.

3Store in refrigerator until ready to use.

4Roll dough out to 1/2 to 3/4-inch thick and cut with biscuit cutter into biscuits to be placed in melted butter. Fold over.

5Place in pan and let rise 1 to 1 1/2 hours in warm place.

6Bake at 400° for 15 to 20 minutes.
