  • 1 sheet puff pastry
  • 1 apple
  • 2 1/8 tablespoons butter
  • 5 1/2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • grated coconut
  • 1 pinch cinnamon

    Preheat oven to 200°C (approximately 400°F).

    Peel apple and cut into thin slices.

    Heat apple slices, sugar, cinnamon and butter in a saucepan until apples are al dente.

    Remove from heat and set aside to cool.

    Reserve syup from cooked apples.

    Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

    Roll out the puff pastry sheet on baking sheet.

    Sprinkle grated coconut and apple slices over the middle third of pastry sheet.

    Cut the sides of pastry into horizontal strips and place in a crisscross pattern over the filling by alternating strips from each side.

    Brush the pastry with some of the reserved syrup from cooked apples.

    Bake in preheated oven on the middle rack until lightly browned for about 20 minutes.

    Cool on a wire rack.
