Ingredients

  • 1 c. plus 2 Tbsp. margarine
  • 2 3/4 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 egg yolk, well beaten
  • milk
  • 1 c. crushed Wheaties
  • 7 to 8 c. sliced, pared apples
  • 2/3 c. sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp. allspice
  • 1 egg white
  • 1 to 2 Tbsp. water
  • 1 c. powdered sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla

Directions

    Cut margarine into flour and salt until looks like small peas. Add enough milk to beaten egg yolk to measure 2/3 cup.

    Stir into flour mixture until cleans side of bowl.

    Divide into 2 parts. Roll one part into 10 x 15-inch rectangle.

    Fold into thirds and place in jelly roll pan.

    Unfold.

    Sprinkle crushed Wheaties over pastry.
