Ingredients
- 6 lb. apples
- 4 c. sweet cider
- 1 1/2 lb. sugar
- 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp. ground cloves
Directions

1Cut apples in quarters and remove seed (do not peel).

2In heavy pot over high heat, cook apples and cider to boiling. Reduce to medium and cover.

3Simmer 15 to 20 minutes until apples are very tender.

4Press apple mixture through a sieve.

5Return pulp to pot; add sugar, cinnamon and cloves.

6Bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium.

7Cook for about 1 hour and 15 minutes until mixture is thick, dark and mounds slightly when dropped from a spoon.

8Remove from heat; ladle into jars, leaving 1/4-inch headspace.

9Process in boiling water bath for 10 minutes.

10Makes about 10 (8 ounce) jars.
