- 1 cup butter or margarine, softened
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 3 cups sugar
- 6 eggs
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground allspice
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1 cup apple cider
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Directions

1Combine butter and shortening, mixing well; gradually add sugar, beating well. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.

2Combine dry ingredients; add to creamed mixture alternately with apple cider, beginning and ending with flour mixture. Mix well after each addition. Stir in vanilla.

3Pour batter into a well greased 10-inch tube pan. Bake at 325° for 1 hour and 50 minutes or until cake tests done. Cool in pan 10 to 15 minutes; remove cake from pan, and let cool completely.
