  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. self-rising flour
  • 1 stick margarine, melted
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • apples
  • white loaf bread

Directions

    Mix ingredients together and set aside.

    In an 8 x 8-inch square Pyrex dish, slice thinly about 1-inch apples.

    Remove the crust from white bread and slice into 1-inch strips.

    Place strips of bread, meeting in center of dish, close together.

    Pour or spoon the margarine mixture over the bread strips and bake at 350° for 30 to 35 minutes.

    If using Stamen or Winesap apples, bake 45 to 50 minutes.

    Peaches or strawberries can be used.
