  • 5 to 6 cooking apples
  • sugar to taste
  • about 1/2 c. water
  • 1/2 to 3/4 c. sugar
  • 1 c. flour
  • 1/2 c. butter
  • chopped nuts (if desired)

Directions

    Slice the apples into a baking dish. Add sugar to taste and the water.

    Mix together.

    Combine the 1/2 to 3/4 cup sugar, flour, butter and nuts (if desired) and pour this crumbly mixture over the apples. Bake slowly for at least 1 hour at 300°.

    Serve hot or cold with whipped topping or ice cream.
