  • 2 lb. apples (8 or 9)
  • 1/4 c. water
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 3/4 c. flour
  • 1/2 c. butter/margarine

    Preheat oven to 350°.

    Peel, core and slice apples.

    Put in 2-quart casserole with water.

    Combine all dry ingredients in bowl. Cut in butter until mixture is crumbly.

    Spread over apples.

    Bake 1 hour at 350°, covered, for 30 minutes, then uncovered for last 30 minutes.

    Serve warm with ice cream.
