- 2 lb. tart green apples, sliced (5 to 5 1/2 c.)
- 1/4 c. water
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
- 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 3/4 c. flour
- 1/2 c. butter

1Preparation Time:

21 1/2 hours.

3Peel and slice apples thinly. Put in shallow 1-quart casserole and sprinkle with water.

4Sift dry ingredients and cut in butter until well combined.

5Sprinkle mixture thickly and evenly over apples.

6Do not mix the two.

7Cover casserole and bake at 350° for 1/2 hour.

8Uncover and bake another 1/2 hour.

9Crust will be crisp on top.
