  • 1 1/2 lb. cooking apples
  • sugar to sweeten
  • cinnamon and raisins (optional)
  • 1 1/2 c. flour
  • 1/2 c. margarine
  • 1/3 c. sugar

Directions

    Peel, core and slice apples.

    Grease a 2-pint dish; fill with sliced apples, layered with sugar to taste (add cinnamon and/or raisins, if desired).

    Rub butter into flour until mixture resembles breadcrumbs; add sugar and mix.

    Sprinkle crumble thickly over fruit; press down lightly.

    Put into preheated 375° oven and bake for 15 minutes.

    Reduce heat to 350°; bake about 45 minutes more, until top is light brown.

    Serve with cream or ice cream.
