  • 6 medium-size tart cooking apples, pared, cored and sliced
  • 1/2 c. granulated sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. lemon juice
  • 1/2 c. sifted flour
  • 1/4 c. packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
  • 4 Tbsp. butter

Directions

    Place apples in buttered 9-inch pie pan; sprinkle with sugar and lemon juice.

    Combine flour, brown sugar and nutmeg in small bowl.

    Cut in butter with pastry blender until mixture is crumbly; sprinkle over apples.

    Bake at 350° for 45 minutes or until juices bubble up and topping is golden.

    Serve with ice cream.
