- 6 cooking apples
- 1/4 cup cold butter plus 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 strips lemon peel
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
- Salt
Directions

1Preheat oven to 375 degrees

2Peel the apples, cut them into quarters and core them.

3Butter an eight-inch baking dish with the two tablespoons of butter.

4Arrange the apple slices in the dish.

5Add the lemon peel and sprinkle on the cinnamon.

6Cut the remaining butter into pieces.

7Combine the sugar, butter and flour, either in a mixing bowl or in a food processor, using a steel blade.

8If using your fingers, blend the mixture until it has the texture of coarse breadcrumbs.

9Sprinkle the mixture over the apples.

10Bake for 40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.
