  • 1 1/2 c. sifted flour
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 c. milk
  • 1/4 c. melted oleo
  • 2 medium apples, shredded
  • 2/3 c. brown sugar
  • 1 c. quick oatmeal
  • 1 c. chopped walnuts

    Preheat oven to 350°.

    Grease and flour loaf pan.

    Sift flour, baking powder, baking soda and spices in large bowl.

    Stir in brown sugar, oatmeal and walnuts.

    Combine eggs, milk and butter. Add to oatmeal mixture.

    Add apples but do not overmix.

    Spoon into prepared pans.

    Bake at 350° for 1 hour and 5 minutes, or until toothpick inserted into middle comes out clean.

    Cool 10 minutes and turn out of pan.
