- 4 c. tart apples, peeled and sliced thin
- 3/4 c. brown sugar
- 1 1/4 c. flour
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
- 1 c. water
- 6 Tbsp. butter
- 1 Tbsp. lemon juice
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 2/3 c. milk
Directions

1Arrange apple slices in a greased baking dish.

2In saucepan, mix brown sugar, 1/4 cup flour, spices and water.

3Place over low heat.

4Cook until thickened, stirring constantly.

5Stir in 2 tablespoons butter and lemon juice.

6In separate bowl, mix remaining flour, salt and baking powder.

7Cut in remaining butter until consistency of cornmeal.

8With a fork, stir in enough milk to make a soft dough.

9Spoon onto apples, making 8 biscuits.

10Bake at 375° for 40 minutes.
