- apples, peeled and sliced
- 4 1/2 c. sugar
- 1 c. cornstarch
- 1/4 tsp. nutmeg (optional)
- 1 tsp. salt
- 10 c. cold water
- 3 Tbsp. lemon juice
Directions

1Peel and slice apples.

2Pack in jars, leaving 1-inch headspace.

3Combine sugar, cornstarch, nutmeg and salt together. Stir in the cold water.

4Put on stove and stir until thick and bubbly.

5Add lemon juice.

6Pour hot syrup into jars, making sure there are no air holes.

7Keep syrup hot while putting into jars. Process at 15 pounds pressure for 15 minutes.
