Apple Pie Sugar Cookie Bars

  • 16 ounces, weight Sugar Cookie Mix (Packaged Dough)
  • 1 whole Egg
  • 1/2 cups Butter, Melted
  • 21 ounces, weight Canned Apple Pie Filling
  • FOR THE TOPPING:
  • 2 Tablespoons Brown Sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoons Ground Cinnamon
  • Caramel Sauce, To Serve (optional)

Directions

    Preheat oven to 375°F. Grease an 8- to 9-inch baking dish.

    In a mixing bowl, combine sugar cookie mix, egg and melted butter. Mix until dough forms.

    Remove 1 cup of dough and set aside. Take remainder of dough and press evenly into bottom of pan.

    Spread apple pie filling over sugar cookie dough.

    Take the remaining 1 cup of dough and break up into small pieces. Sprinkle on top of apple pie filling.

    In a small bowl, combine brown sugar and ground cinnamon. Sprinkle on top of dough.

    Bake for 20-25 minutes or until edges are brown and dough is cooked through. If desired, drizzle with caramel sauce before serving.
