- 6 apples
- approximately 1/2 c. sugar
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla or few drops almond extract
Directions

1Wash apples and cut into quarters.

2Place in saucepan and partly cover them with water.

3New apples require very little water.

4Stew the apples until tender.

5Put them through a strainer or ricer.

6Return the strained apples to the saucepan.

7Add enough sugar to make them palatable.

8Boil them for 3 minutes.

9Sprinkle with cinnamon.

10(If served hot, add 1 teaspoon of butter; if served cold, add 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla.)

11If applesauce is to be served with pork, add 1 to 2 teaspoons horseradish.
