- 12 tart cooking apples
- 5 Tbsp. sugar
- 1/8 tsp. salt
Directions

1Wash, peel, core and quarter apples.

2Put them in saucepan; half cover with cold water.

3Bring to a boil.

4Cover, reduce heat and let simmer until tender.

5Stir in sugar and salt.

6Cook 5 minutes more.

7Mash apples with a spoon or force through a sieve. Chill.

8If desired, a little lemon juice, cinnamon or nutmeg may be added after cooking.

9Serves 6.
