Ingredients: 1 2/3 c. flour; 1 c. sugar; 1/2 tsp. baking powder; 1 tsp. baking soda; 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon; 3/4 tsp. salt; 1/4 tsp. ground cloves; 1/4 tsp. ground allspice; 1/3 c. Spry shortening; 1/3 c. water; 1/3 c. nuts; 2/3 c. raisins; 1 c. applesauce; 1 egg

1 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
3/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. ground cloves
1/4 tsp. ground allspice
1/3 c. Spry shortening
1/3 c. water
1/3 c. nuts
2/3 c. raisins
1 c. applesauce
1 egg

Directions

Sift together flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, salt, cloves and allspice.

Add shortening, water, nuts, raisins and applesauce.

Beat 2 minutes in mixer on medium speed. Add egg and beat 2 minutes more.

Pour in greased tube pan and bake 1 hour at 350°.
