  • 1/2 c. liquid shortening
  • 1 3/4 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. powdered cloves
  • 1/2 c. raisins
  • 1/2 c. nuts

    Mix thoroughly applesauce, brown sugar and shortening.

    In separate bowl, mix all dry ingredients.

    Add raisins and nuts.

    Bake 40 minutes at 350° in a 9-inch pan.
