  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup raisins
  • 14 teaspoon clove
  • 14 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 12 cup butter
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 14 teaspoon allspice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup applesauce
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 14 teaspoon salt
  • nuts, if desired

Directions

    Mix the first ten ingredients together.

    Mix salt and soda in applesauce just before adding to batter.

    Mix well.

    Bake in a moderate oven until an inserted cake tester comes out clean.

    (I'm guessing 375 degrees for maybe 35 minutes.
