  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 1 c. strained unsweetened applesauce
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp. cloves
  • 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 2 1/4 c. flour
  • 1/2 c. raisins
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. cinnamon

Directions

    In a bowl, cream shortening with sugar.

    In a separate bowl, sift dry ingredients, then add to creamed mixture alternately with the applesauce.

    Drop with a teaspoon onto a greased cookie sheet. Bake in a 350° oven for 10 to 15 minutes.
