Applesauce Date Cake

Ingredients

• 2 cups flour, all-purpose
• 2 teaspoons baking soda
• 1 teaspoon cinnamon
• 1/2 teaspoon allspice
• 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
• 1/4 teaspoon cloves
• 1/4 teaspoon salt
• 2 large eggs
• 1 cup brown sugar, light packed firm
• 1/2 cup butter (softened)
• 2 cups applesauce (heated)
• 1 cup dates (chopped)
• 3/4 cup pecans (coarse-chopped)
• 1 x frosting, prepared optional
