Asparagus Casserole

  • 1 can green asparagus
  • 1 can tiny green peas
  • 1 (7 oz.) can mushrooms
  • 1 (5 oz.) can sharp cheese spread
  • 1 1/2 c. fine bread crumbs
  • 1 stick butter
  • 1 1/2 c. milk
  • 4 Tbsp. butter
  • 3 Tbsp. flour
  • 1/2 tsp. salt

    Grease baking dish.

    Melt 4 tablespoons butter in double boiler and add flour and milk to make a cream sauce.

    Add cheese spread until melted.

    Set aside.

    Melt 1 stick butter in pan with bread crumbs.

    Spread drained asparagus on bottom of baking dish and add drained peas.

    Spread 1/2 of bread crumbs over peas.

    Add drained mushrooms.

    Pour cheese sauce over mixture and sprinkle remainder of bread crumbs on top.

    Bake at 400° for 12 to 15 minutes.
