Asparagus Ham Rolls

- 2 Tbsp. butter
- 1/4 c. all-purpose flour
- 2 c. milk
- 1/2 c. shredded Cheddar cheese
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. white pepper
- 24 fresh or frozen asparagus stalks
- 8 thin slices fully cooked ham (1/2 lb.)
- 1/4 c. bread crumbs
Directions

1In a saucepan, melt butter.

2Stir in flour and cook until thick.

3Gradually stir in milk and cook until bubbly and thickened. Stir in cheese, salt and pepper.

4Remove from heat.

5Place three asparagus stalks on each ham slice.

6Roll up; fasten with toothpicks, if necessary.

7Place in a 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking dish. Cover with cheese sauce.

8Sprinkle with crumbs.

9Bake at 375° for 20 minutes.
