Ingredients

  • 1 to 1 1/2 lb. ground round beef
  • 2 c. chopped onion
  • 2 qt. hot water
  • 2 c. carrots, cut up
  • 2 c. celery, cut up
  • 2 c. potatoes, cut up
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. pepper
  • 2 cubes beef bouillon
  • 2 bay leaves, crushed
  • pinch of basil
  • 1 large can tomatoes or juice

    Brown ground beef.

    Add chopped onions and cook 5 minutes more.

    Drain.

    Add water, vegetables, salt, pepper, beef bouillon, bay leaves, basil and tomatoes.

    Cook until vegetables are tender.
