Ingredients
- 1 1/2 c. (12 oz.) finely chopped bacon
- 1 Tbsp. margarine
- 1/2 medium head lettuce, chopped
- 3/4 c. flour
- 10 c. chicken stock
- 2 medium tomatoes, diced
- 1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg
- 1/2 tsp. white pepper
- 2 c. half and half
Directions

1In an 8-quart pot, lightly saute diced bacon.

2Do not remove drippings.

3Add margarine.

4Heat until melted.

5Add chopped lettuce.

6Saute 3 minutes.

7Add flour.

8Stir until well blended. Cook 2 minutes.

9Add chicken stock, tomatoes, nutmeg and pepper. Heat until boiling, stirring to prevent sticking.

10When mixture begins to boil, add half and half.

11Warm, but do not boil.

12Serves 12.
