- 1 lb. codfish (see note)
- 1 clove fresh garlic, crushed
- 1 sprig parsley
- slat (only if using fresh cod)
- 1 lb. potatoes, boiled and mashed
- 1 medium onion, diced fine
- 1/4 c. chopped parsley
- pinch of red pepper flakes
- 1 egg
- oil (for frying)
Directions

1Boil codfish with garlic and parsley until done.

2Drain and cool; flake and add onion, parsley and pepper flakes.

3Boil potatoes and mash them.

4Stir potatoes into codfish mixture with one beaten egg.

5Form into generous 1-inch balls or small patties (for fish cakes) and deep fry.
