- 2 lb. frozen cod fillets
- 1/2 lb. butter
- 1/2 c. oil
- 1/3 c. onion, chopped
- 1 clove garlic, chopped
- 1 1/2 c. canned tomatoes with juice
- 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp. cloves
- salt and pepper to taste
Directions

1In a large 3-quart heavy saucepan, place butter and oil.

2Heat until butter melts.

3Add remaining ingredients except codfish. Bring to boil.

4Reduce heat and add fish, partially thawed and cut into 1 to 1 1/2-inch cubes.

5Bring to boil; reduce heat and simmer 1 1/2 to 2 hours, stirring occasionally.

6Serve over hot polenta or potatoes.
