  • 5 slices bacon, diced, cooked until brown, drained and drippings reserved
  • 1 1/2 c. flour
  • 1 Tbsp. baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 c. shortening
  • 1 egg

    Cut 1/4 cup shortening into flour.

    Stir in 1/2 cup milk and bacon.

    Form soft dough and knead.

    Pat into 1/2-inch thick round. Cut 4 biscuits with 3 1/2-inch cutter.

    Beat egg and brush top with egg. Bake on ungreased sheet 10 to 12 minutes at 350°.
