- 2 c. self-rising flour
- 1 Tbsp. sugar
- 1/3 c. shortening
- 1 c. buttermilk
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 1 lb. cooked and crumbled bacon
- 4 oz. shredded Cheddar cheese
Directions

1Combine flour and sugar.

2Cut in shortening with a pastry blender until mixture resembles coarse meal; set aside.

3Combine buttermilk and soda, stirring until soda dissolves.

4Add mixture to bacon, cheese and flour mixture, stirring until all ingredients are moistened.

5Turn out dough onto lightly floured surface and knead slightly 4 to 5 times.

6Roll dough to 1/2-inch thickness. Cut with a biscuit cutter.

7Place on lightly greased baking sheet. Bake at 425° for 10 to 12 minutes.
