  • 6 fresh pears
  • 1/3 c. water
  • 3/4 c. brown sugar
  • 1/2 c. maple syrup
  • dash of salt
  • 1/2 tsp. ground ginger
  • 1 lemon rind, grated

Directions

    Preheat oven to 325°.

    Cut slice off bottom of pear so it will stand upright.

    Place, with stem up, in baking dish.

    Mix remaining ingredients and pour over pears.

    Bake, uncovered, about 1 1/2 hours, basting 3 or 4 times.

    Serve cool with syrup.
