Banana Toffee Pie

  • 1 (9-inch) prebaked pie shell
  • 1 (14 oz.) can sweetened condensed milk
  • Cool Whip
  • 1 stick margarine
  • 4 bananas

Directions

    Using a very heavy pan or skillet, melt margarine over low heat.

    Add sugar and stir with a wooden spoon until the sugar dissolves.

    Add the condensed milk and bring to a boil over medium to low heat, stirring constantly.

    The mixture burns very easily. When mixture begins to bubble, turn heat to low but maintain boil. Boil, stirring carefully for 5 minutes.

    Remove from heat at once.

    Allow mixture to cool to room temperature, stirring occasionally.

    Slice 3 bananas, arrange in bottom of pie shell. Pour cooled toffee mixture over them.

    Place pie in refrigerator until cool.

    Spread Cool Whip over top of pie.

    Decorate with slices of remaining bananas.
