- 1/4 c. salad oil
- 1 (2 1/2 to 3 lb.) ready-to-cook broiler-fryer chicken
- 1/2 c. chopped onions
- 1/4 c. chopped celery
- 1/2 c. catsup
- 1/3 c. water
- 2 Tbsp. lemon juice
- 1 Tbsp. each: brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, vinegar and prepared mustard
Directions

1In a skillet, brown slowly in oil the chicken.

4To skillet, add onions and celery; cook until tender.

5Add catsup, water, lemon juice, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, vinegar and mustard.

7Simmer 15 minutes; skim off excess fat.

8Pour sauce over chicken.

9Bake uncovered at 325° for 1 1/4 hours or until done, basting 3 or 4 times.
