- 1/4 c. shortening (like Crisco)
- 1/2 to 3/4 c. buttermilk
Directions

1Cut shortening into flour until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

2Add milk to make a soft dough.

3Turn dough onto a lightly floured surface.

4Knead gently 30 seconds.

5Roll or pat 1/2-inch thick.

6Cut with floured biscuit cutter.

7Bake in a hot 425° oven for 10 to 15 minutes or until brown.

8Brush tops with butter before baking.

9Yields twelve 2-inch biscuits.
