Ingredients
- 3 1/2 c. flour
- 1 pkg. active dry yeast
- 1 1/4 c. milk
- 1/4 c. sugar
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 egg
- 1/4 c. shortening
Directions

1Combine 1 1/2 cups flour and yeast.

2Heat milk, sugar, shortening and salt just until warm, stirring constantly until shortening almost melts.

3Add to dry mixture.

4Add egg.

5Beat at low speed with mixer for 1/2 minute.

6Beat 3 minutes on high speed.

7By hand, stir in remaining flour to make a soft dough. Shape into ball.

8Place in lightly greased bowl.

9Turn once to grease surface.

10Cover and let rise in warm place until double, 1 1/2 to 2 hours.

11Punch down, turn on floured surface.

12Cover and let rest 10 minutes.

13Shape into rolls.

14Cover and let rise in warm place until double 30 to 45 minutes.

15Bake at 400° for 10 to 12 minutes.
