- 1 c. butter, softened
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1/4 tsp. vanilla extract
- 2 1/4 c. unbleached all purpose flour
- 1/8 tsp. salt
Directions

1Beat butter at medium speed with an electric mixer until creamy; gradually add sugar, beating well.

2Stir in vanilla. Combine flour and salt; gradually add to butter mixture beating at low speed until well blended.

3Roll dough to 1/2 inch thickness on a lightly floured surface.

4Cut with a 2 1/2 inch round cutter or Christmas cookie cutter.

5Place 2 inches apart on an ungreased baking sheet.

6Bake at 275 degrees for 50 minutes.

7Cool 2 minutes on baking sheet.

8Remove to a wire rack to cool.

9Yields 1 dozen.
