  • 2 1/2 cups chicken broth or 2 1/2 cups vegetable broth
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup light corn syrup
  • 1/2 cup dry sherry or 1/2 cup white wine
  • 1/4 cup cider vinegar
  • 2 cloves minced garlic
  • 2 teaspoons grated fresh ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground red pepper or 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
