- 2 pkg. dry yeast
- 2 3/4 c. warm water
- 6 1/2 c. flour
- 3 Tbsp. sugar
- 3 tsp. salt
- 2 Tbsp. soft shortening
Directions

1Dissolve yeast in water.

2Add half of the flour (3 1/4 cups), sugar, salt and shortening.

3Blend at low speed with mixer, then beat 2 minutes at medium speed.

4Mix in remaining flour by hand. Cover and let rise until doubled (about 45 minutes).

5Stir batter, beating hard about 30 seconds.

6Spread in 2 greased loaf pans. Let rise about 20 minutes or until doubled.

7Bake at 325° for 40 to 50 minutes.
