- 1 bag navy beans
- 1 lb. carrots
- 4 medium potatoes
- 3 stalks celery
- 1 medium onion
- 2 lb. ham end
- 1/2 tsp. garlic salt
- 1/2 tsp. pepper
- 1/4 tsp. cloves
Directions

1Soak beans overnight.

2Discard water.

3Dice potatoes (skin on), celery, carrots and onion.

4Put in 6-quart pot.

5Add ham. Cover with water.

6Simmer 5 hours.

7Remove ham.

8Discard fat and bone.

9Cut ham into bite-size.

10Return to soup.

11If soup is too thin, cook longer; if too thick, add water.

12Serve with toasted bagels.
